Travel in Argentina – Posadas in Misiones Province

Vendor on the Costanera

Posadas is located in Northeastern Argentina and is the capital city of Misiones (Missions in English) province.     View Photos

It is primarily a transfer town for those heading to Iguazu Falls or on the way to visit the Jesuit ruins in nearby San Ignacio Mini.

A midsize city (population 312,000) with the usual assortment of city-ish things to do such as: plenty of restaurants; small shopping mall with cinema & video arcade (Posadas Plaza Shopping); costanera (waterfront promenade) and if traveling with kids – a waterpark that really isn’t a waterpark.     Read all about it here:   AquaMania Waterpark in Posadas, Argentina

Panaderia (Bakery) in Posadas

The main square is Plaze 9 de Julio – where you want to go (or have the cab or bus drop you off near) if you need to get cash… is where all the international LINK ATMs are located. Elsewhere is mainly Macro bank ATMs that are for local customers only.

As with many non-touristy towns, a primary attraction for travelers (and what keeps a few here longer than a day or so) is a funky hostal that seems to know how to have a good time (complete with pool!) and is in a great central location – Hostal Vuela el Pez.
