Would like to move to Ecuador. In our 50′s. Would like a quite location reasonably close to shopping medical etc. Would prefer to purchase acondo or home near beaches.
Hi Gary, many folks have done what you are thinking of, be sure to check our Blogs about Ecuador page – http://www.southamericaliving.com/living-in-ecuador-blogs-about-ecuador/ – to get some first-hand accounts of what it is like to move/live there.
Off the top of my head come two main locations that expats like yourself have moved to that are on the coast (different areas of the country): Bahia de Carquez area (best shopping, have medical care) would be my top pick for you. The other is Salinas but not sure about medical care in the area and less shopping options. Both are 8-10 hours from Quito. Best, Molly
