Photos & Video – Riding a Gondola Overlooking Salta, Argentina

Cable Car - or Gondola - in Salta, Argentina

Teleférico (Cable Car in English) Entrance in Salta

Across the street from Plaza del Lago (Lake Plaza) is Teleférico - the entrance to a 15 minute gondola ride (see photo below) up to the top of the San Bernardo Mountain with 360 degree views of the city of Salta and surrounding area below.     Photos of Salta

Open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the ride costs only 20 pesos ($4.89 USD). There is a staircase for the more active tourist to climb up or down, with areas to exercise and do pull-ups, push-ups or whatever your engerized heart desires – locals use the area like a free gym! Watch the video to take a ride to the top and check out the view.

Walking up will take approximately 40-50 minutes. The upper area has terraced gardens complete with man-made waterfalls. There is a restaurant with panoramic views (tables and seating outside or inside) plus shops selling ethnic clothing, jewelry and crafts.
