The following is a list of public holidays in Uruguay. The Spanish name is in parenthesis. During these times banks and many businesses will most likely be closed.

Artigas' Military Cockade - Pays Homage to National Hero José Gervasio Artigas

  • New Years (Año Nuevo) – January 1st
  • Epiphany (Epifanía) – January 6th
  • Carnival – February or March

Note: Opening day (or days) of Carnival banks and businesses may be closed but festivities last weeks in some areas of country.

  • Easter (Semana Santa) – February or March
  • Labor Day (Dia de los Trabajadores) – May 1st
  • Battle of Piedras (Batalla de las Piedras) – May 18th
  • Day of the Adoption of the Constitution (Jura de la Constitución) – July 18th
  • Independence Day (Dia de la Independencia) – August 25th
  • Columbus Day (Dia de la Raza) – October 12th
  • (Dia de los Muertos) – November 2nd
  • Christmas Day (Navidad) – December 25th
